At East Boston Savings Bank, we have been in the business of serving the financial needs of our customers since 1884. We believe in the responsible use and protection of our customers' confidential (non-public) information is one of our fundamental responsibilities. The Information We Collect As a financial institution, we must collect, retain and use information about our customers and applicants for the purpose of providing products and services. We may collect non-public personal information from a variety of sources: applications or other forms you submit to us; information about you transactions with us; or information we receive from a consumer reporting agency.

The information collected and retained by EBSB is used for specific business purposes, such as approving or administering your account, complying with banking regulations, protecting against fraud, and developing a better understanding of your financial needs to provide you with products and services of value to you.

The Information We Share We may share non-public information about you with companies related to EBSB by common control or ownership (affiliates) and, as permitted by law, with third parties that are not our affiliates (non-affiliated third parties).

To provide our customers with products or services that we believe will meet their financial needs, we may disclose limited non-public personal information to reputable companies we have contracted with under strict confidentiality agreements in order to provide you with exceptional customer service. The information that we share with other financial institutions with which we may have joint marketing arrangements (such as service providers, insurance agents, and investment advisors):

EBSB does not sell or provide non-public personal information about customers or former customers to other companies for their independent use to market their own products and services.

Web site and Online Banking Customers EBSB's privacy policy applies to all individual customers of the bank, including those who do their banking using EBSB's online option. These customers will also be provided with a copy of our privacy policy and the opportunity to opt-out if they so choose. EBSB's standard privacy policy will be posted on our web site to allow online customers to opt out of information sharing.

Cookies and Session Variables In order to provide the best possible service, we may use a "cookie" or a "session variable" as part of our interaction with your browser. Cookies are messages a web server places on a web browser. The message contains information that is stored on your computer and sent back to the server when your browser requests pages from the server. Cookies provide added convenience to you by allowing you to apply for accounts or loans online, personalize your sessions, and provide non-personal information to us to allow us to understand and respond to our market. Similarly, session variables may be used on some of our pages in order to store your preferences or access information during a particular session. We do not use cookies or session variables to retrieve information from your computer that you have not explicitly revealed. How We Protect Your Personal Information We understand that the protection of your non-public personal information is of the utmost importance. EBSB maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal rules to guard your non-public information. We do not authorize access to customer information except to those who have a business reason to such information, and to educate our employees about the importance of confidentiality and customer privacy.
